Makai Gambit FAQ

( I. )    What is Makai Gambit about?
Makai Gambit explores the story of the mysterious colossal netherworld known as Juusandom, the 13's Dominion. The story is one of world exploration, character development, and battling factions. The characters that are participating in Makai Gambit are from different points in time. Without getting to deep into specifics, it's just worthwhile to say that DLC scenarios, certain epilogue content, and Disgaea RPG is considered non-canon as far as this story goes. I mention this in advance for fans of Disgaea who may be curious as to why certain characters might act less familiar to their expectations.

Luc has answered an ask about it on their tumblr which addresses some of finer details with some accompanying teasers! I highly recommend giving it a read!( II. )    Where did the idea for Makai Gambit come from?
The original inspiration for the costumes was Chess Arena from Elsword. The story however is entirely original.( III. )    Where did the designs come from?
Each design was commissioned from Hiku on Vgen. Hiku did a majority of the heavy lifting on the designs with my contributions being limited to some direction to help steer the ship from the outset. Hiku is a tremendously talented artist and a phenomenal designer who provided a lot from a little direction. I cannot sing Hiku's praises enough. As mentioned you can find them on Vgen and they open commissions every month or so, so definitely give them a follow and keep and eye out! For an extensive list of credits, please check artists.( IV. )    Is this going to be a game of some sorts?
Probably not. I say probably because at the moment, I'm just working on it in my spare time and when I feel inspiration strike. To make a game, I would have to funnel a lot more time into this than I already am, which isn't something I'm opposed to, but isn't viable for me at the moment. Furthermore, I don't have the slightest idea when it comes to coding or game dev. A visual novel sounds feasible, however I'm not exactly versed in branch writing, so I'm not positive in my ability to create something of that nature that would captivate audiences.TLDR; Never say never but don't expect it.

There is no definitive or detailed schedule for posts, the entirety of this project is being funded out of my own pocket. I'm limited by the artists I can commission, when I can commission them, and how much I can stockpile before posting. In short, there is no concrete plan for a post schedule nor will there ever be most likely. I attempt to commission things in large batches, however, it's not always an option nor is making people wait something I enjoy either, so it's truly a case of "When I can".TLDR; There isn't one.( VII. )    Do you create the art posted on the account?

Don't know. Please don't ask questions like this. I have a post on bluesky asking people to reply with characters they would like to see. It won't affect the outcome, but if you're interested in voicing characters you'd like to see, reply here.( X. )    Do you accept volunteers?
At the moment, and likely for the foreseeable future, no. At the moment this is a passion project and I'd like to keep it that way. I wouldn't know the slightest thing about managing a team environment, nor do I particularly want to. I would rather just tackle this project slowly and at my own pace while sharing the fruits of my commissions and writing whenever applicable.
